Route - A Maritime Crossroad
Discover the beautiful city of Lisbon and it’s unparalleled light. On your journey you will not only have the opportunity to watch and photograph some of the most charismatic city’s monuments, but also to explore picturesque neighbourhoods usually not visited by tourists.
Lisbon's first settlements date back from the Neolithic, and the town was later occupied by Phoenician, Roman and Moorish people who left monuments and traditions. The city was conquered from the moors by the first king of Portugal in 1147. In the XVIII century Lisbon was the capital of an Empire stretching from Africa to India; in 1755 downtown was destroyed by a huge earthquake and tsunami, and was later rebuilt by the Regent, Marquês de Pombal, according to a revolutionary urbanism plan that endures in modern Lisbon.
In this experience you will feel and capture this colourful blend of antique and modern, of Orient and Occident, of North and South of Mediterranean and Atlantic. Today, Lisbon is a modern capital and one of the most cosmopolitan in the whole world. There are large Asian, Easterner European, African and Latin American communities living peacefully together. This is what gives Lisbon such a special and unique atmosphere.
Your guide will be available to explain all technical aspects of photography, but he will focus on giving hints to help you express your own personal interpretation of the place.
Our route will guide you from the sophisticated Chiado trough the monumental Praça do Comercio where the city meets his ancient companion the Tagus River. Then we will follow to Alfama, an old moorish neighbourhood with a medina like structure were the “fado” (traditional Portuguese folk song) seeps from the windows. Finally we will gain the castle hill and enjoy the nicer views over Lisbon.
