...Great food and wine... The food is local, seasonal and fitted to the rhythms of the countryside... Claudio taught me so much about wine... everything is at the wish of the guest - no formality and great tranquility... Shouldn't forget to mention the water-drawn from a spring and once reserved for the Pope - hence the name. Great walks, wild flowers and much more... I loved every minute of it..

October is a great month for cooking classes, it is the beginning of the olive harvest and the pressing of the new oil, chestnuts, lots of mushrooms are in season.  Temperatures are are usually around 18-25 C° but get cooler after the middle of the month.

Fontana del Papa - One Week Course

Classical Cooking Classes - 7 nights/ 8 days

Learning the basic culture and the hands on realization of every day family Italian cooking.

Sample one week itinerary - Ideal holiday for solo travelers - no single supplement. 

Excursions: Rome - Viterbo - Tarquinia -   (max 6/8 persons)  
 

Saturday Arrive at Airport of Rome where our own car will waiting to transport you to Tolfa. Welcome drinks and candlelit dinner.  

Sunday Morning cooking lesson  Lunch. Afternoon escorted walk around Tolfa and to the “Castello della Rocca” perched high above the town. From this ruined 12th Century we have  one of the best views over the area. Stop for "gelato" Dinner  



Monday - Morning cookery hands on demonstration  Lunch. free afternoon or walk to the near Bagnarello. Tutored wine tasting with our Sommelier Claudio and dinner. Late dinner at Fontana del Papa

Tuesday full day in “Undiscovered Etruria” Viterbo - Morning visit to  cheese maker. Lunch. This afternoon, visit to Tuscania and pottery - farm. Late supper at home.

Wednesday Morning cookery demonstration  lunch at Fontana del papa. Afternoon Tarquinia, visit ancient Etruscan remains. Visit to olive oil producer to taste wonderful olive oil ( the visit to the mill is available only during the harvest period). (during winter period the excursion to Tarquinia will be in the morning)

Thursday Full day in Rome on your own by train. (if you do not want to go to Rome we may offer other activities or excursions with an extra charge)

Friday
Morning  visit to our weekly local market, Shopping.  Cooking class. Afternoon  pizza making!  Farewell dinner

Saturday After Breakfast - departure to International Airport of Rome

Take the A12 motorway and exit at junction marked "Santa Severa". Here follow  the road signed "Tolfa". This winding mountain road
