POPES' PALACE - the largest Gothic Palace in the world

The Popes' Palace, the residence of the Sovereign Pontiffs during the 14th Century, is the biggest Gothic Palace in the world. There are 25 rooms to visit in the Palace: ceremonial rooms, chapels, cloister, the private papal apartments, with their priceless frescoes and new museum space - the Musee de l'Oeuvre - which displays the evolutions in the building of the Popes' since the 14th century. The price also includes use of an audio-guide to guarantee a richer experience allowing you to learn all there is to know about this legendary monument. The audio-guide is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Japanese. The recommended visiting time is 1.5 hours.

PONT D'AVIGNON - the bridge of legends

The famous "Pont d'Avignon", a major feature in Avignon's history, is known the world over, thanks to the celebrated children's song. Constructions of the bridge started in the 12th Century, and parts of the bridge were continually swept away by the raging waters of the Rhone river. Reconstruction of the bridge was finally abandoned in the 17 Century. The recommended visiting time is 30 minutes.

The Popes' Palace is the biggest Gothic palace in all of Europe (15,000 square meters of floor space, which is the equivalent of 4 Gothic cathedrals). See over 20 rooms, scenes of historic events, in particular the popes' private chambers and the frescoes painted by the Italian artist Matteo Giovannetti.

The Pont d'Avignon (Pont St Benezet) was the first construction over the Rhone river, between Lyon and the Mediterranean sea in the 12th century. The bridge had 22 arches and covered approximately 900 meters linking Villeneuve les Avignon to Avignon. The bridge collapsed in the 17th century and the king did not want to pay for restoring the bridge. Today, the bridge has 4 arches, and is still so famous for the French song "Sur le Pont d'Avignon"
