Lyon forms the second largest metropolitan area in France after Paris. The city is known for its historical and architectural landmarks and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For several centuries Lyon has been known as the French capital of gastronomy, due, in part, to the presence of many of France's finest chefs in the city and its surroundings (e.g. Paul Bocuse). This reputation also comes from the fact that two of France's best known wine-growing regions are located near Lyon: the Beaujolais to the North, and the Cotes du Rhone to the South. The Beaujolais is very popular in Lyon and remains the most common table wine served with local dishes. Lyon is the home of very typical and traditional restaurants: the bouchons. Bouchons are usually convivial restaurants serving local dishes, and local wines. Lyon is known to be the silk capital of the world

The city is well known for its Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes), where several popes and antipopes lived from the early 14th to early 15th centuries. Avignon is commemorated by the French children's song, "Sur le pont d'Avignon" ("On the bridge of Avignon"), which describes folk dancing. The bridge of the song is the Saint Benezet bridge, over the Rhone River, of which only four arches.
Destination the Rhone and Saone Valleys, the Camargue and the gateway to Provence: Lyons, Tain l'Hermitage, Avignon, the City of the Popes, Arles, Martigues... We offer you a different way to explore the northern Rhone and the towns along its banks during a cruise on one of our 3 boats, which is all about good living. On the programme, vineyard tours, beautiful old stones, good food, the awakening of the senses... Cruises bursting with sunshine and dolce vita... Simply drink it all in!
